Hello everyone! Hope my blogs have been beneficial to you all. We talked about Dhokla, sev tamata nu shaak, Dabeli and Gujarati Kadhi. Today I'm going to tell you all about one more very famous item- Jalebi fafda. I am sure its going to be everyone's favourite.
Jalebi--fafda is a famous snack of Gujarat. It is mostly had for breakfast. It is considered to be Gujarat's most loved combination. Fafda are crunchy, spicy and have long stripes of chikpeach dough which has been deep fried. Jalebi are sweet, tangy, soft fried and sweet dipped in sugar. This sweet-salty combination is traditionally served on dusshera as a breakfast. It amazing combination is found in most of the street corners of Gujarat.
Ingredients
Chickpeas flour(gram flour) 1 1/2 cup
Carom seeds (ajwain) 1 tbsp
Black pepper power or crushed 1 tbsp
Baking soda
Turmeric powder 1/4 tsp
Salt to taste
Oil (to make the dough 3 tbsp and as required for deep fry)
How to make fafda?
In a bowl, add carom seeds, crushed balck pepper, baking soda,salt, termeric powder and mix well. Add gram flour and some water and make a soft dough just as you make for a chapatti dough. Knead the dough properly for 5-6 minutes, add 1 tbsp oil and knead for some more time.Keep it aside for 15-20 minutes. Roll out thin layer and cut down the stripes. Deep fry it on a medium flame until they become crispy.
Delicious fafda are ready. Serve it with jalebi and fried green chillies.
